MISSION
The mission of the department is to produce men and women who can assess, develop, and maintain business and scientific computing systems, and who are capable of continued learning and ethical practice in the ICT field.
Our goal is to ensure that students will be able to integrate theory and practice, recognize the importance of abstraction and appreciate the value of efficient design created to meet clearly developed requirements preparing them for becoming a professional in the field of computing.
Department Goals and Objectives
- To apply scientific and engineering methodologies to the analysis of problems and the design, implementation, and evaluation of computer-based solutions;
- To utilize their breadth and depth of theoretical computer concepts and mathematics to adapt to emerging technologies and the ever-changing needs of the industry;
- To exploit their awareness of persistent concepts in the field of Information & Communication Technology to understand and be able to effectively address complex computational problems using appropriate models, techniques, tools, and abstractions to meet industry standards;
- To make effective use of oral and written communications in the usual interactions with clients, colleagues, management, and subordinates;
- To work efficiently and effectively in a team environment to develop support tools and systems to satisfy stated requirements;
- To give appropriate consideration to the professional, ethical, legal, security, and societal impacts of computer technology as it pertains to their current position; and
- To continue to enhance their technical skills and their development as computing professionals through life-long learning.
